What happens during a surfboard shaping experience
You spend the session shaping the blank with James. The glassing and finish work happen afterwards in the workshop.

Before the day
James starts by understanding the board you want to make. You can arrive with a clear shape in mind or ask him to help narrow the direction from your surfing and the waves you know.
The date, board and fee are agreed before the session. Shaping days start from £1,200 and remain subject to workshop availability, size and complexity.
In the workshop
The session usually lasts four to six hours. James guides the sequence and explains the tools as the blank moves from its starting dimensions towards the finished shape.
You do the shaping at a pace that suits your confidence. Previous tool or board-building experience is not required.
After the shaping
James completes the glassing and finish work to the agreed specification. The board stays in the workshop while those stages are completed.
Collection is arranged once the board is ready. Courier delivery can be discussed when travelling back to the workshop is difficult. Nearby rural accommodation may also be available for an additional cost.
